As a student, being in a smaller sized classroom with a professor that actually knows you is when i learn the best. Inside the classroom i like working in groups to get stuff done and i like interaction. I hate listening to the professor lecture about the class for an hour. Outside the classroom i enjoy going out with my friends.
Below are the goals for my Foundations of College Writing Course.
For each goal, I've selected work that demonstrates how I addressed that goal during the course,
and explained how, citing specific examples from my work.
Goal
My Work
My explanation
Goal A - Students will be able to compose
for particular audiences and purposes
Timeline
I wanted to describe the history or Air Jordan Sneakers and i thought there was no better way to show that than a timeline. I was able to incorporate pictures to give people the actual visual of the shoe. Along with the pictures i could include brief explanations about each shoe. a magazine about sneakers will be read by a large variety of age groups, from children to adults so i used alot of visuals for kids to look at because i am aware that when a child looks at a magazine, they generally are just looking at the pictures, but i also included writing along with it for the older readers to actually learn about the shoe
Goal B - Students will be able to compose using
language and conventions appropriate to genre
timeline
again i can use my timeline for this example. every single time line includes dates, pictures, and small descriptions about that certain thing or event. In mine i used the year that every shoe came out, a picture of that shoe, and a small description about the date of release, price etc.
Goal C - Students will be able to read, select, and use
evidence critically to formulate and support arguments
Prof. Genre
In my professional genre, i used several other articles that were relatively about the same topic and posed the same argument to make my arguments stronger. I used a cover article that Sports Illustrated ran called "Your Sneakers or your life"
Goal D - Students will be able to interpret and compose in
a variety of media and print/non-print genres
Time line, top 10 list, magazine article
in my time line, i used a picture for each shoe and i made them each the same size and in a perfect row going down, makes it look professional
in my top 10 list i again used an image of each sneaker sold and made them the same size and in aligning columns, and centered the description under each picture
in my magazine article i aligned the writing into columns like a magazine page and i incorporated pictures within the writing
Goal E - Students will be able to describe and apply
appropriate writing processes, both individually
and in collaborative contexts
